Recently sacked manager of Tottenham Hotspur, Antonio Conte has written an emotional farewell to the club and the club’s fans less than a day after the side announced his departure.

Antonio Conte who is one of the most successful coaches to accept the responsibility of heading Spurs less than 16 months ago, left the north London club on mutual consent after he granted an explosive press conference.

In the post-game press conference after struggling Southampton fought from 3-1 down to tie 3-3 with Spurs, Conte lambasted the mentality of the club’s management that has left the team without a trophy for over 20 years. He also described his teammates as “selfish”.

Hours after his public attack on the club, the club began to hold meetings with stakeholders, including him, which sparked speculations about his exit.

On Sunday night, March 26, the club announced the departure of the Italian tactician who had won league titles at Juventus, Chelsea, and Inter Milan before he joined the club in 2021.

He only succeeded in helping the team place in the top four in his first season, and he departed the team this season in the fourth spot.

The farewell message the 53-year-old tactician posted on Instagram on Monday reads: “Our journey together has ended, I wish you all the best.

“Football is passion. I would like to deeply thank everyone at Spurs who appreciated and shared my passion and my intense way of living football as a coach.

“A special thought to the fans who always showed me support and appreciation, it’s been unforgettable to hear them singing my name.”

Antonio Conte’s former assistant Cristian Stellini will serve as the club’s acting manager until the end of the season. He will be supported by the club’s former midfielder Ryan Mason.

Their first game after Conte’s departure is against Everton at Goodison Park on Monday, April 3. The Premier League game will take off at 20:00 BST.
