The contract status of Chelsea player Masan Mount has been discussed by manager Graham Potter.

As contract extension negotiations between Mount’s representatives and the Blues came to a standstill, Mount is set to leave Chelsea during this summer’s transfer window.

The Chelsea player, who represents England internationally, has less than 18 months left on his current deal, and he has made it clear that he prefers to stay with the west London club.

Nonetheless, Potter says that the circumstances surrounding Mount’s contract are complex and that the player must make the best decision for himself because he is not naive.

Potter stated, “That is between the club and Mason,” prior to Chelsea’s Premier League match against Leicester City on Saturday night. I’ve had numerous conversations with him about life in general. Mason has my undivided attention and I think the world of him. But occasionally, these things do occur. It’s complicated there, so it’s best if I briefly discuss it.

“I am not naive, and I am aware that the deal is significant to him. He must make the best decision for himself and his family, thus these considerations must be correct.
