On Sunday, February 5, 2023, Temilade Openiyi, better known as Tems, made Africa as a whole and Nigeria in particular extremely proud when she became the first female musician from Nigeria to win a Grammy.

The American rapper Future’s song “Wait For U,” in which he featured her and Drake, helped Tems win the award for “Best Melodic Rap Performance” at the 65th Grammy Awards.

However, when some prominent worldwide musicians praised her for winning, compliments started to stream in from the event.

However, a video captures the exchange between DJ Khaled and his wife as they both congratulate Tems on the exceptional and remarkable victory.

However, the music mogul raised eyebrows with his plea to Tems before offering her a hug.

Can I hug you, DJ Khaled asked Tems before hugging her.

However, the modest request drew replies from online users who were impressed that he had to request permission.

See the way DJ Khalid asked, can I hug you? Or am I the only one the heard/saw that?

“Say…see the way he asked for permission to hug her, unlike our Nigerian Wizzy that carried her on stage some time back”
