Days after fellow Brazilian forward Vinicius Junior extended his stay with the team, Rodrygo has decided to stay longer with Real Madrid, one of the biggest teams in La Liga in Spain.

One of the world’s brightest young players, Rodrygo, signed a contract earlier today, November 2, to remain at Real Madrid until 2028.

Madrid included a one billion euro release clause to Rodrygo’s new contract, following the recent trend in La Liga—particularly between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona—wherein clubs insert outlandish release clauses in the contracts of their young players.

The 22-year-old attacking-minded football player has scored 39 goals in 179 games for Real Madrid and has made 18 appearances for Brazil’s national side.

Remember that Rodrygo left Brazilian team Santos at the age of eighteen to go with the Spanish La Liga powerhouses?

He has two La Liga championships, the Copa del Rey, the European Super Cup, the Club World Cup, and the Uefa Champions League as a Real Madrid player.

He participated in five games for Brazil in the 2022 FIFA World Cup as one of the younger players, and the nation was eliminated from the competition.

Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo’s international teammate, inked a new contract with Real Madrid on Tuesday, November 1, according to Naija News. The new contract’s expiration date is June 30, 2027, and it also includes a release clause of one billion euros.
